Let’s start with a list of things that can cause anxiety, such as a mental condition, a physical condition, the effects of drugs, or a combination of these.

Common Causes of Anxiety

  1. Stress at work
  2. Stress from school
  3. Stress in a personal relationship
  4. Financial stress
  5. Stress from an emotional trauma such as the death of a loved one
  6. Stress from a serious medical illness
  7. Use of an illicit drug, such as cocaine
  8. Lack of oxygen in circumstances as diverse as high altitude sickness, emphysema, or pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the vessels of the lung)

CBD and Anxiety Research

“I can tell you – from someone who has suffered from anxiety – CBD has worked for me.”

– Marcus –

When we look at some of the research that has been done for potential treatments for anxiety disorders, there is a growing amount of scientific studies involving CBD‘s medical usefulness for anxiety and depression. Hundreds of studies have looked at how cannabidiol might be used to treat various neuropsychiatric disorders. One of the most recent, published in October 2015 in Neurotherapeutics, concluded that topical CBD has “considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders.” In addition, a study review published in September 2015 in the Journal of the American Society for Experimental NeuroTherapeutics found that “preclinical evidence strongly supports CBD as a treatment for anxiety disorders,” including PTSDgeneralized anxiety disordersobsessive-compulsive disorder, and seasonal affective disorder.

Does that answer your question? It isn’t something “signed off” by the FDA just yet, but my mother always told me to drink water upside down to get rid of my hiccups and it works!

Athletes on Anxiety

Mental health is not a very easy thing to talk about in sports. It’s not perceived as very masculine. We’re so trained to be “mentally tough,” in sports. To show weakness, we’re told, in so many words, is to deserve shame. But I am here to show weakness. And I am not ashamed.” — Mardy Fish, USA, tennis player, on anxiety
